Search engine optimisation is used to increase the ranking of your website in the main search engines including Google, Yahoo and Bing and hence increase the number of visitors to your website. SEO involves search engine optimisation techniques used on your website and on other websites to increase your website ranking in the main search engine listings. This is often called organic or natural search engine optimisation. PPC or Pay per Click advertising involves the sponsored advertising areas of a search engine listings and as the name suggests is a paid for form of on-line search engine advertising.
SEO is used in the design and development stages of a website when deciding on website menu headings and text content, as the keywords used here can determine when and where your website appears in a search engine results. For example, imagine that you sell perfume and 'perfume' is a 'keyword' used in your web pages. If a potential customer has entered the word 'perfume' into the Google Search engine, you could feature in the results. These optimisation decisions are also taken into account by myself when developing the web pages code by ensuring that web page titles and descriptions, sometimes referred to as meta-tags, also include these keywords in order to get your website the highest possible search engine ranking. My SEO strategy for your business can also include off the page techniques including link building from other relevant websites. See Affiliate Marketing below for more information.
Pay Per Click advertising or PPC is a paid for form of SEO. In other words, you pay Google or another search engine a fee for this service. However, unlike SEO which focuses on search results in the main search list of Google or another search engine, PPC focuses on sponsored search results which appear in different areas of Google or another search engine, for example the top right corner of each search page. PPC works with an agreed daily budget and every time a potential customer clicks on your PPC search listing in the sponsored section, you pay Google or the search engine you are using, a click through fee. Once you hit the daily budget figure, your listing will cease to appear until the following day. I can recommend and implement PPC campaigns for your business as part of your overall SEO strategy. Alternatively, if you want to run your own PPC campaigns, training can be provided in advance.
I can also assist in building hyper links from other websites to your own site. This affiliate marketing technique will also improve your search engine rankings as the more links that you have to your website from quality content providing websites is looked at favourably by the search engines. This involves identifying other websites that could potentially endorse your business and provide a link from their site to your site to generate additional site traffic. The use of Blogs is an effective option here where other people write about your business. The affiliate relationship might involve a fee maybe in line with a PPC model or a fixed fee regardless of the number of clicks made to your website. In addition, the affiliate partners could also potentially work with you on other marketing initiatives or even sell your products or services on-line.
One final area of SEO that often goes overlooked is maximising the use of Google. Google is one of the biggest companies in the world. As a world leader in internet innovation, Google are constantly developing their product range to assist companies like you in developing their on-line brand presence through improved search engine optimisation. And what's more, a lot of them are free! Andrew can outline these options to you from Google and implement them on your behalf. This includes Google AdWords for running your PPC campaigns, Google Maps and Places for improving your SEO and Google Analytics for measuring where your search engine traffic has come from.
